Ric Rac Roundup and a 1 Xmas Tally

It didn't hurt a bit ... I just bit the bullet, pinned the rac rac and sewed. My first attempt was a bit skimpy but the 2nd and 3rd letters were ok so after some un-sewing, I have the first three letters ready.

Last night while waiting for the State of Origin Footy Match to start, I made a start on these 2 blocks. Unfortunately my sewing machine was effecting the TV reception so once the game started it was a no sew zone. So at lunch I finished them off.

I'm undecided. Should I or should I not share an update of the clever Elves who have been able to add to their Christmas stash each month since January ... just for fun.

It's The 25th ... Who Am I Kidding?

I'm only kidding myself if I think I'll have finished bunting letters to show today :o) Try as I might I can't get motivated to finish off the letters by adding some ric rac and sewing them up ... maybe later?

So instead I shall share the 2 letters that I did finish the stitching on for June.

Only 2 letters to go and then I will have to whip myself into gear and face that ric rac.

I've seen some lovely makes this morning and thankyou all for sharing your lovely Christmas items. I have also been making a list and checking it twice ... gonna find out who's naughty or nice been keeping up each month. Just as an incentive to keep up the good work ... remember the number 1 rule in this group is No Stress ... make what you can when you can and any progress is a great head start on Christmas. It's also a lovely way to see all the wonderful ideas that the clever elves are busy creating. Check out the 1 Xmas Item page for this months pics.

Super Moon Sunday

Wasn't sure how good my camera would be at taking a night shot but this is what I captured last night.

If you're like me and didn't know what all the fuss was about, click HERE for an explanation.

Last week I swapped a day at work so that I could be on hand for my usual Chief Tally Keeper job out our school sports day. Of course that was the only day it rained so sports has been postponed. Which left me with last Tuesday at home so I was able to get the next 3 blocks finished for my Workshop Mystery Layout Quilt.

Tomorrow will be the 25th for some. How is everyone going with this months' 1 Xmas Item? Do you have it finished and are waiting for the 25th to share your post or are you like me and still have a seam or two to sew?  Remember your item can be a gift to be given at Christmas or it can be something for yourself to use or decorate with at Christmas.

Happy Sewing and see you soon      >^..^<

Simply Sunday

Sunday .... Sunshine .... Soup .... Sewing?

A crisp Sunday, the sun is shining beautifully and I have the day at home.

Sheets and towels flapping on the line.

Chicken and vege soup in the slow cooker.

Loaf of bread in the bread maker.

Lots to do but I'm sure I can squeeze in some sewing somewhere ...
what simple things make your day shine?

All In One Week

I can't be sure but I think it was last Monday I got around to making some Tomato Relish. This was my first batch in many years ... so long in fact I rang mum to ask for her recipe and she said she uses my recipe which was my mother-in-laws ... ooops! Forgot about it but now that I've tried some the memory returned ... delish even if I do say so myself.

Mid week hubby and I attended Farmfest which is a huge agricultural display, but not before Fiona and I arranged to meet up. We chatted like old friends over a coffee and then had a quick stroll through a few sights. Time went way too quickly and as the evening showers came over it was time to say goodbye. Many friendships are made through blogging and it's extra special when we're able to catch up 'in real life'. If you pop over to Fiona's blog you will see how alike we are when it comes to footy stuff and stitching.

I was also spoilt with some lovely goodies ... thankyou Fiona.

The weekend has been back to reality with all the washing (ironing yet to be done as I've had more important ironing to do - see below) and putting things away. Throw in not feeling 100% and showery weather and I decided some sewing would be the best remedy. Not before some serious un-sewing for the second time on this particular block. It started out as 4 pieces and reversed back to 16 pieces ... now it's ONE!

We have a public holiday tomorrow so I feel another block finish coming on and maybe even more?

May Flower and Sunday Sewing

Sometimes during my lunch break at work I am able to baste a petal or two. It may have taken two weeks but Thursday night I was able to stitch my flower into a full bloom. These are 1/2" hexies.

It was so lovely to see the sun shining this morning. Especially as I'd done many loads of washing yesterday to hang undercover on the verandah ... which is now nicely dry, folded and put away. This allowed some time for sewing.

Seam by seam I am slowly putting this jelly roll quilt together. See that beautiful sunshine streaming in through the window?  :o)

Sewing and Sunshine are great for the Soul.

Enjoy the remainder of your weekend   >^..^<
